05 Condiments and Salads Fundamentals

Introduction

From basic to very sophisticated, salads come in an array of options. In this course, not only are you going to make all the famous and delicious dressings that are on restaurant menus, but you will also learn to make your own flavoured oils and vinegars.

The course programming increment was created to help you stay organized, but it is up to you to decide how much you want to learn in a week.

Week 1 - Topic 1: Condiments

vinegarDiscover condiments and their importance in creating flavorful dishes. A condiment is a relish, sauce, or seasoning added to food to impart a particular flavor or to complement the dish. Often pungent in flavor and therefore added in fairly small quantities, popular condiments include salt, pepper, ketchup, mustard, olive oil, and vinegar. Learn about various types of condiments and we'll teach you how to make your own.

Week 2 - Topic 2: Salads and Crudités

saladNow that you know more about condiments, it's time to learn about salads. The possibilities and flavour combinations of salads are endless. Served before a meal, as an appetizer, or as an entree, salads and crudites are for every palate. Healthy leaves and colorful dishes are only a few clicks away.

Week 3 - Topic 3: Salad Dressings

Hint: You can also be creative by mixing ingredients to create your own dressings, perhaps using the flavored oils and vinegars you learned to make in Week 1 of this course...
